This is an interesting question given that many of us where around when they didn't exist. Here is just one item that explains how we have become so dependent on the phones. How did we drive our cars without the security of knowing we can call for help if the car has a problem.
And if we did forget the phone, we were very nervous the whole trip!
But then back in the dark ages, we went wherever we wanted anyway and never gave it second thought what we would do if the car did break down, we just did whatever was necessary to solve the problem on our own initiative.
Hey, most of the time the car never did break down!
