The question that remains, why does he want to do this given he is mentally and physically not up to the job. Maybe it's his pattern of life that he trod the entire time as a government employee, doing whatever he wanted to do or saying anything no matter how inane or stupid he never had to take any personal responsibility his behavior.
I guess it make sense that he would want to continue the free ride. What else does he have on his calendar of events for the rest of his life? I'm sure life in his basement without a bunch of people waiting him hand and foot every minute of every day would a real drag.
I have to believe even Jill will kick him to the curb!!
