Just imagine, if you will, selling a house in a neighborhood of median priced homes for the area and having it turned into a long-term rental property. What would that do the property values for the entire area.
What about an area in above median priced homes? You know, those with walls around them? Oh wait, that won't happen as those in charge live there!

Affordable Housing Right Of First Refusal. The goal of this bill is to require Colorado property owners to give local government 90 days to review any property sale, then allow the government to buy it for the same terms the owner made with a private purchaser.
The property would then be used by the government as long-term affordable housing. Not only should the government not be in the business of purchasing residential or mixed-use multifamily property, this 90 day window is about three times longer than the normal home sale takes, leaving both buyers and sellers in a holding pattern for longer than the free market dictates. This outrageous bill has already passed the House, and will be heard in the Senate shortly. It's to late to contact your state House member, but not to late to contact your Senator.
