Obamas’ Chicago Fixer Tina Tchen’s Role in Smollett Case

How did hate crime huckster Jussie Smollett get away with it? All crooked roads in Chicago lead back to the Obamas.

On Tuesday, as part of a sealed deal, the Illinois state attorney’s office dismissed 16 felony charges brought by a grand jury against the Trump-hating actor, who blamed phantom white MAGA supporters for a brutal racist “assault” that left him with a teensy-weensy scratch under his eye.

The day before the “attack,” Smollett’s two bodybuilding friends were caught on surveillance tape buying costumery (red hat, ski masks, bandanas, sunglasses, and gloves) that just happened to match Smollett’s descriptions of what his still-fugitive assailants were wearing.

But I guess there’s no use crying over spilled bleach.

To atone for the-fakery-that-shall-not-be-named, Smollett performed 18 hours of “community service” with Jesse Jackson’s PUSH Coalition and forfeited his $10,000 bond.

Minority liberal race-hustling has its privileges.

And that brings us to the Democratic operatives behind the scenes. Two weeks ago, Chicago Sun-Times reporters discovered that Obama crony pal and deep-pocketed campaign finance mega-bundler Tina Tchen had inserted herself in the investigation.

Tchen texted Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx just three days after the incident “on behalf of Jussie Smollett and family who I know” to express “concerns.” She suggested that Foxx lean on Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson to yield to the FBI and she shared an unidentified Smollett’s family member’s cellphone number with Foxx.

Foxx texted back that she had done as requested and that Johnson was “going to make the ask.” The unidentified relative rejoiced: “OMG this would be a huge victory.”

Only after Foxx meddled did she recuse herself and name an underling to take over—which rendered her Kabuki recusal meaningless to veteran observers of the “Crook” County criminal justice system. So, who was the Smollett relative with all the right (or rather, left) connections? Follow the trail:

—Tchen and Smollett’s sister, Jurnee Smollett-Bell, joined together in March 2018 at South by Southwest in Austin to proclaim that “There Is No Time’s Up Without Women Of Color.”

—In May 2018, Tchen and Smollett-Bell took the stage together again—hand-in-hand, glued at the hip—at the United State of Women Summit in Los Angeles (where Tchen’s former boss and gal pal, Michelle Obama, also appeared).

—Smollett-Bell and another sister, Jazz Smollett-Warwell, worked for the Obama campaigns in 2008 and 2012 and volunteered as tireless surrogates.

—My search of White House visitor logs shows Jurnee Smollett-Bell paying at least one personal visit to “POTUS/FLOTUS” at their residence in March 2013 while Tchen was serving as a top strategist to both Obamas.

To minimize Tchen’s role in the Obamas’ political lives as merely an “aide” is journalistic malpractice. As I have previously reported:

—Tchen personally shoveled more than $200,000 into the 2008 Obama presidential campaign coffers while a high-powered lawyer at white-shoe Skadden Arps.

—Tchen served as special assistant to President Barack Obama, and then took over as chief of staff in the East Wing for Michelle Obama.

—Tchen headed up the Obama White House Office of Public Engagement, spearheaded by longtime Chicago pal and fellow corporate lawyer/bundler Valerie Jarrett.

—Tchen coordinated Hollywood celebrities to promote Obama’s domestic policy agenda through the taxpayer-subsidized National Endowment for the Arts.

—Tchen was listed in 2009 White House visitor logs I reviewed as having met there with radical left-wing billionaire George Soros.

—As Breitbart’s Joel Pollak noted, Soros donated a total of $408,000 to super PACs supporting Foxx’s successful primary and general campaigns for Cook County state attorney.

Given Jurnee Smollett-Bell’s hand-holding friendship with Tchen, Tchen’s intimacy with the Obamas, and Michelle Obama’s chumminess with Jussie Smollett (she hosted him at a musical event at the White House in 2016 and danced with him on stage at a College Signing Day Event in 2018), it is not unreasonable to wonder how much direct knowledge the Obamas themselves may have had about Tchen’s role as Smollett’s fixer.

Tchen has made quite the career out of exploiting her Obama connections, including cushy spots on VICE’s Diversity and Inclusion Board, Uber’s #MeToo advisory board, and the Grammys’ task force for inclusion and diversity. But those plum jobs and her role in Smollett’s folly all pale in comparison to her newest gig: playing watchdog over the crumbling Southern Poverty Law Center.

After decades of manufacturing “hate” against peaceful, law-abiding conservatives; sharia opponents; Christian activists; and immigration enforcement hawks, the junk mail order house that grifter Morris Dees built is in chaos amid long-brewing strife over internal gender and racial discrimination—not to mention a slew of outside defamation lawsuits. Fresh off assisting one celebrity hate crime huckster, Tchen will now be doing damage control for the granddaddy of all racial hoax rackets.

Like I said: Minority liberal race-hustling has its privileges.

Liberals Are Too Committed to Collusion Narrative to Be Swayed by Evidence

The saga that is the Mueller report is a consequence of what happens when you begin with a conclusion and then desperately seek evidence you hope will confirm it.

The conclusion: Donald Trump was illegitimately elected and that he and/or his campaign conspired with the Russians to undermine Hillary Clinton’s presidential candidacy.

A summary of the report delivered to Congress Sunday by Attorney General William Barr says special counsel Robert Mueller “found no evidence President Donald Trump’s campaign ‘conspired or coordinated’ with Russia to influence the 2016 presidential election but reached no conclusion on whether Trump obstructed justice.”

The president claimed “full exoneration.” Democrats claim Mueller only suggested there was insufficient evidence to prove obstruction of justice and that, as the report says, “It does not exonerate him.”

Democrats will have a hard time making that case with the public because of their stalwart defense of former FBI Director James Comey who said of Hillary Clinton and her email server, “Although we did not find clear evidence that Secretary Clinton or her colleagues intended to violate laws governing the handling of classified information, there is evidence that they were extremely careless in their handling of very sensitive, highly classified information.”

So committed are Democrats to their narrative that Trump is crooked, unfit, unqualified, unstable, and unsuitable for the presidency that no amount of evidence to the contrary will keep them from continuing investigations.

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler, D-N.Y., says he intends to ask Barr to testify before his committee. We can expect plenty of grandstanding by Democratic committee members if that happens.

This is all the Democrats have, other than their presidential candidates promising the moon along with higher taxes to help them reach their impossible social dream.

As The Wall Street Journal noted in a Saturday editorial:

''Starting about the time of Donald Trump’s inauguration in January 2017, the press ran story after story based on anonymous ‘intelligence sources’, purporting to establish links between the Trump presidential campaign, or various individuals in the Trump orbit to, well, to what was never exactly clear—whether Vladimir Putin himself or ‘the Russians.’ This in turn led to multiple congressional investigations, much of them centered on the FBI’s handling of these matters.''

As a result of the Mueller probe, several key Trump advisers have admitted crimes or have been convicted since the election, writes The Guardian—George Papadopoulos, Michael Cohen, Michael Flynn, Rick Gates, and Paul Manafort.

Manafort, Trump’s former campaign chairman, was recently sentenced on tax and bank fraud charges that date back before the 2016 campaign. Trump was not implicated.

The Mueller investigation is estimated to have cost the U.S. taxpayers about $25 million. Given the results, the report is not worth the expenditure.

The full report should be released as soon as possible, but even that is unlikely to satisfy Democrats, many of whom hate the president and look for any opportunity to harm him politically. But the report won’t stop the U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York, whose office is investigating Trump’s businesses prior to and even after becoming president.

Nothing will stop the Democrats from coming after the Trump administration.

One is reminded of what Sir Winston Churchill said in a different context after a small British victory near the start of World War II: “Now this is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning.”

That will likely be the mantra of Democrats leading up to the 2020 election. They have only just begun. Voters will have the last word and it may harm Democrats if the president is seen as being persecuted for partisan reasons.

Obamacare Is in Danger. Here’s Why It’s Been So Bad for America.

The prognosis for Obamacare isn’t looking too great right now. Last December, a district judge in Texas ruled that Obamacare should be struck down in its entirety. The Justice Department said in a federal appeals court filing on Monday that it agrees with this ruling, according to CNN, which would be a reversal of its previous position that only some of the law should be overturned.

Regardless of how the courts rule, Obamacare has been a manifest failure and a harm to American health care.

As Marie Fishpaw, the director of domestic policies at The Heritage Foundation, and John Malcolm, vice president of the Institute for Constitutional Government at The Heritage Foundation, wrote in December:

bamacare led to years of increasing costs and decreasing choices. Premiums doubled in the first four years of the program. Millions lost the coverage they used to have. Americans found it harder to pick the right plan and doctor, as health plan choices declined and provider networks narrowed. Frustrated providers are drowning in red tape and increasingly feeling burned out. Meanwhile, taxpayers are on the hook for the money needed to paper over Obamacare’s flawed structure.

The rise in premiums, which the Obama administration said wouldn’t generally happen, has been well documented. Premiums for individual coverage more than doubled between 2013 and 2017, according to a Department of Health and Human Services report.

This effect is primarily due to Obamacare regulations, fees, and other various provisions in the law.

It’s also created a huge liability for states that bought into the Medicaid expansion, which is now starting to cause a serious strain on state budgets as federal funding winds down.

A recent report from the Heartland Institute, a free-market think tank, explained the problem now arising in Virginia, which recently agreed to the Medicaid expansion: “For most of the past decade, Medicaid has been overwhelming Virginia’s budget to the point where the state is now expecting a $462.5 million shortfall over the next two years and lawmakers are torn over how to make up the difference.”

This isn’t what states expected. Clearly Obamacare has failed to deliver on its promises, as new problems like this now have to be dealt with.

As if these problems weren’t enough, many now want to use this moment of uncertainty to push our system even further to the left, advocating single-payer, socialized medicine. Numerous Democratic senators have already lined up behind independent Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders’ plan, “Medicare for All.” Supporters include 2020 presidential candidates.

This socialist plan would lead to a catastrophe far worse than Obamacare. Here are three big reasons why: You would lose your current insurance, as proponents have admitted they want to abolish private insurance; government control of health care and taxes would surge; and wait times for treatment would go up as care quality goes down.

Such a plan would only double down on the failures of Obamacare. It wouldn’t fix anything.

There are real ways to improve our health care and insurance system, ways that could lead to more innovation and lower costs for American families.

Perhaps instead of looking for government to solve a government-caused problem—government has been heavily involved in American health care for over 50 years—the answer is to find other ways to deliver better health coverage and care. The key is to bring more choice and competition to the health care system.

We could truly bring more choice and competition to the health care system with the Health Care Choices Proposal, which would lower premiums by up to a third, increase private insurance, and protect the vulnerable—all without spending additional money in federal tax dollars.

Whether Obamacare is repealed or struck down, the fact is it cannot stay. It needs to be replaced by something better.

Socialized medicine isn’t the answer. It would only produce more misery for the American people.

A College Education Means What? : More Then 40% Don't Belong There!

The next question that becomes evident and soul searching is why do most high school students need to go to college in the first place.

If you aren't in college for one of the  STEM disciplines, Science, Technology Engineering and Math, close attention should be used to find a good rational to proceed to college after high school rather then pursuing a skill that is marketable found in a technical school.

More then 40% of all college and universities students do not belong there. They don't know who they are or why they are in this strange environment. For most of them it's just the thing to do next.

And given the number of ill-educated or uneducated graduating with some kind of marketable skill, exiting our higher learning institutions broke, earning a worthless degrees that will never allow them to use what little information they might have gleaned in the four or five year process, wind up on the street with a broom or actually in jobs that are and were open to them before they entered college.

Go figure!

How Leftist Ideology Ruins College Students

Last week’s column discussed the highly publicized university corruption scheme wherein wealthy parents bought admission at prestigious universities for their children. That is dishonest and gives an unfair advantage to those young people, but won’t destroy the missions of the universities.

There is little or no attention given by the mainstream media to the true cancer eating away at most of our institutions of higher learning. Philip Carl Salzman, emeritus professor of anthropology at McGill University, explains that cancer in a Minding the Campus article, titled “What Your Sons and Daughters Will Learn at University.”

Salzman argues that for most of the 20th century, universities were dedicated to the advancement of knowledge. There was open exchange and competition in the marketplace of ideas. Different opinions were argued and respected.

Most notably in the social sciences, social work, the humanities, education and law, this is no longer the case. Leftist political ideology has emerged. The most important thing to today’s university communities is diversity of race, ethnicity, sex, and economic class, on which they have spent billions of dollars. Conspicuously absent is diversity of ideology.

Students are taught that all cultural values are morally equivalent. That’s ludicrous. Here are a few questions for those who make such a claim. Is forcible female genital mutilation, as practiced in nearly 30 sub-Saharan African and Middle Eastern countries, a morally equivalent cultural value?

Slavery is currently practiced in Mauritania, Mali, Niger, Chad, and Sudan; is it morally equivalent? In most of the Middle East, there are numerous limitations placed on women, such as prohibitions on driving, employment, and education.

Under Islamic law in some countries, female adulterers face death by stoning. Thieves face the punishment of having their hands severed. Homosexuality is a crime punishable by death in some countries.

Are these cultural values morally equivalent, superior, or inferior to Western values? Social justice theory holds the vision that the world is divided between oppressors and victims. The theory holds that by their toxic masculinity, heterosexual white males are oppressors. Among their victims are females, people of color, and male and female homosexuals. The world’s Christians and Jews are oppressors, and Muslims are victims.

Increasingly, the classics of Western civilization are being ignored. Why? Because they represent the work, almost exclusively, of “dead white men.” Only works of females, people of color, and non-Western authors are seen as virtuous.

The same is true with political history.

The Constitution should be less respected because its writers were white slaveholders. The academics who teach this nonsense to students are grossly ignorant of the struggle over the slavery issue at our 1787 Constitutional Convention.

Salzman concludes his article with the observation that “Marxist social justice offers all the answers anyone needs, so no inquiry or serious research is required. Be confident that at university your children will learn ‘the right side’ to be on, if little else.” As a result of leftist indoctrination, many college students graduate illiterate, innumerate, and resistant to understanding.

A survey of employers showed that over 70 percent found college graduates were not well-prepared in skills such as written communication, working with numbers/statistics, critical/analytical thinking, and second-language proficiency.

The American Council of Trustees and Alumni publishes occasional reports on what college students know. One report found that nearly 10 percent of the college graduates surveyed thought Judith Sheindlin, TV’s Judge Judy, is a member of the Supreme Court. Less than 20 percent of the college graduates knew the effect of the Emancipation Proclamation.

More than a quarter of the college graduates did not know Franklin D. Roosevelt was president during World War II. One-third did not know he was the president who spearheaded the New Deal.

Such ignorance might explain why these young people are the supporters of today’s presidential candidates calling for America to become a socialist nation.

By the way, one need not be a Westerner to hold Western values. One just has to accept the sanctity of the individual above all else.

The facts on fighting terrorists tell a different story in that the Untied States will never be able to shed the mantel of war. Defending this nation does not begin at the water edge.

We will always be at war someplace, everyday of the year and for generations. Maybe we will never be able to come home and declare victory as the enemy never will cease it's demands of death and destruction for America.

It's only a matter of time until we have another attack on our country like the attack on New York and the Pentagon. Then the sleeping giant will have to take another look at the mistakes of the near past again as we did the first time and the time before that.

The Fallen ISIS Caliphate Will Return

The last ISIS stronghold is no longer strong. Or held. The last recognized remnant of the terrorist group’s so-called caliphate is gone, Fox News reported Thursday.

This is a milestone victory for the forces of counterterrorism. But it is not the end of the war on terrorism. Unfortunately, the bad guys will be back on the field soon enough.

Rising to prominence quickly, ISIS was the boldest of the bold transnational terrorist groups. At the height of its power, it advanced a claim that al-Qaeda—its former comrade and then competitor in arms—never dared make: control of a territorial caliphate.

In asserting the establishment of an Islamist empire, ISIS signaled the equivalent of the end of times. In a part of the world where honor is power, this was heady stuff. It was a clarion call for all who shared the radical ideology of ISIS—a direct challenge to the Arab world, the West, and “the great Satan” (the U.S.) in particular.

It was also disturbingly effective. Tens of thousands foreign fighters answered the call, flocking to join the ranks of ISIS. In addition, ISIS launched a global media campaign that promoted radicalization and inspired terrorist attacks around the world, from North Africa to Europe to the U.S. and Australia.

Taking down the caliphate was crucial. For one, ISIS created a humanitarian nightmare. The group’s so-called holy warriors stole, raped, enslaved, and murdered with abandon, filling mass graves on a regular basis.

As the group grew, it posed a grave danger to regional stability and a terrorist threat worldwide. It also represented a direct challenge to the West: Could democratic nations beat back and defeat an armed Islamist force, or were they nothing more than a “paper tiger,” as Osama bin Laden had claimed?

The physical defeat and geographic eradication of the caliphate is a tremendous humiliation for Islamist radicals. It is as important as the military victory on the battlefield. But the terrorists won’t go quietly into the night. When bin Laden was chased out of Africa, he fled to Afghanistan. It was there that he planned the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks against the United States.

After allied troops ejected al-Qaeda from Afghanistan, the terrorists sought a way to regain their honor. That led them to foment the Sunni insurgency in Iraq. And when al-Qaeda was crushed in Iraq, the terrorists looked for another opportunity. That turned into the ISIS uprising in Iraq and Syria.

Now that the ISIS caliphate has been ground to dust, the remnants will once again look for a way to regain their honor. To them, that means showing they have the capacity to slaughter and enslave innocents of all creeds, faiths, and colors.

Like the fire brigade that just put out the forest fire, the U.S. and its friends and allies will have to be on watch. The sparks will flare up and try to rage again. The only question is: Where will the terrorists go next?

The scattered remnants of ISIS, al-Qaeda, and their ilk roam about the greater Middle East and beyond. And there is no shortage of places where they can find refuge and recuperate, regroup, and rise again.

There’s also no shortage of opportunity for mischief.

The state of Syria remains far from settled. The chaos there is a welcoming environment for terrorism. And while remarkable progress has been made in Iraq, sectarian strife remains ever present.

On top of this, we can’t forget about Iran, the world’s biggest state sponsor of terrorism. Tehran has made accommodations for al-Qaeda before. The mullahs might well help out Sunni extremists again, if it helps make trouble for others.

Meanwhile, North African nations like Libya and Tunisia have good reason to worry about being next on the extremist hit list. And the more sentimental terrorists pine to go back to Afghanistan and turn it into a terrorist-controlled killing field again.

It’s a lot of territory to keep watch over—especially when you have to worry about aggression from state powers like Russia, China, and North Korea. But we know what happens when America’s leaders drop their guard against transnational Islamist terrorism. Just months before it claimed a “caliphate,” ISIS was pooh-poohed as “a JV team” by President Barack Obama.

We can’t make the mistake of dropping Islamist terrorism from the national and international Bad Guys List. Now that ISIS is down, we must fight to keep it down. And out.
