If you question any of this stuff in nearly every aspect of our civil society, rest assured you are asleep at the wheel! Just watch the commercials and count how many feature women in positions of control, how many show women and girls as leading discussions or are featured as making decisions for the family as the men are no where to be seen. There virtually no young boys ever in the scene!
And if a man is in the scene, he is portrayed as a goof ball, unable to understand what's happening around him and is in need of direction. He is simple minded and dumbfounded by circumstances the women have under control.
