Health reform. NCPA President John Goodman participated in a conference this week to discuss a vision for health reform. Several lawmakers were among the participants, including Sen. Richard Burr (R-NC), Rep. Phil Roe (R-TN) and Rep. Tom Price (R-GA), each of whom have sponsored their own health reform legislation. The conference was excellent and worth viewing. One overarching observation was the lack of consensus that still exists among lawmakers and policy wonks on how to replace Obamacare. To explore the possibility of agreement among Republicans, House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA) is convening a meeting today of committee chairmen and other interested lawmakers to discuss moving forward. I'm not holding my breath.
