Hollywood Unmasked Again : ELYSIUM - Just More Liberal Hype

Wonders of wonders - a movie out of Hollywood and Matt Damon that isn't some how a liberal left progressive Democrat propaganda sign post for all to see and understand just wouldn't be reality.

I haven't seen the movie and likely would not have gone even if I hadn't read this from Jerry. I trust Bader in his analysis as he has in the past proven a reliable source of information. As a result of past over the top blatant displays of bias in movies that are dropped on an unsuspecting public, I have concluded since Hollywood, and the majority of actors that infest the liberal ranks of the progressive Democrat party, just forces me to seek other entertainment venues.

Elysium: Propaganda Masked as Gory, Mediocre Science Fiction
by Jerry Bader on Right Wisconsin

I had no intention of seeing Elysium. Then, I received this email from listener Chris:

Jerry,
I can always see the liberal point of view in movies. I’ve come to expect it and I also can ALWAYS overlook it…But Elysium is special.

It is nothing more than 1hr and 50mins of liberal propaganda showing us how horrible white people are and how America is the greatest, selfish, greedy evil that there ever was.

Well, that was that. I had to see it for myself (The fact it was having a big box office weekend was another factor). So with my daughter in tow, Sunday night I relieved myself of $20 and two hours I’ll never get back. Before I go on: this column is one big spoiler alert, so if you plan on seeing the movie check out another piece on RightWisconsin. But if you do go see it, consider yourself warned.

A little boiler plate if you haven’t heard about the movie. Earth faces a dystopian mid-22nd century. As Chris pointed out, the overwhelming majority of the population appears to be minority, destitute and living on a depleted planet. Circling in orbit above is Elysium which can be seen from Earth even in the light of day, so the downtrodden can be reminded constantly of what they’re missing.

And Chris was right; thinly veiled doesn’t begin to describe the liberalism in this movie. It really is a propaganda piece. As Earth was dying in the late 21st century the planet’s wealthy constructed Elysium to "preserve their way of life." Elysium is pristine habitat where nobody wants, and every physical ailment can be healed by simply being scanned in a "med-bay." Of course, as we learn, med-bays only work on citizens. Oh, did I mention that everyone on Elysium appears to be attractive, and white? But you haven’t heard anything yet.

Elysium is protected by…The Department of Homeland Security. Shuttles that try to breach the habitat’s security are "undocumented." And those who make it to its surface are, have you guessed it? Illegals! But the true liberal utopia lies in Elysium’s end game. Matt Damon (who else?), in trying to make it to Elysium for a miracle cure, gets the habitat’s entire operating system encrypted into his brain. So, what’s the plan? Change the security code to make everyone citizens! Ta da! Open borders liberalism survives into the 2150’s!

Of course, we don’t know how Elysium has self-sustaining affluence and health care, it just does. We do know that the wealthy have no intention of sharing it with the have-nots. And Homeland Security Director Jodie Foster has no problem blowing up "undocumented shuttles." So in the 22nd century:
  • The rich appear to "just have things" with no evidence of having earned them.
  • They don’t want to share them with the poor and will kill the poor to keep it that way.
  • It’s possible for an entire population to have perfect health care with no apparent cost.
  • The fair thing to do is make the whole world citizens and we’ll still never run out of the "plenty" that we have.

Liberals can take heart that they’ll finally get their agenda realized.  And Chris is right. The orbiting Elysium is a metaphor for affluent, (evil) white America. Elysium was on its way to weekend box office champ. It’s very gory, mediocre science fiction. But the closing moments where shuttles are on their way to Earth to provide desperately needed free health care to every newly minted "citizen" will have the open borders, Obamacare loving left cheering in their seats.

My only regret was not sitting through the closing credits to see if they included the disclaimer; "authorized and paid for by…"
