And the beat goes on - .
Congressional politics. National Center for Political Analysis
With all the attention focused on presidential politics, it is easy to miss some interesting developments lower on the ballot.
For instance, in the aftermath of Ohio’s primary elections, Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) was defeated in his primary election against Rep. Marcy Kaptur (D-OH). His staunch anti-war position, his efforts to impeach both President Bush and Vice President Cheney, and his 2008 Presidential campaign made Mr. Kucinich a notable liberal fixture in Washington.
On the GOP side of the ballot, the person elected to challenge Rep. Kaptur in that race is none other than Samuel “Joe the Plumber” Wurzelbacher, who made a name for himself in the 2008 campaign when he challenged candidate Barack Obama about “spreading the wealth around.” Another victim of the Ohio Primary was Rep. Jean Schmidt (R-OH), who was helpful to the NCPA’s Family Policy Center project of 2009.
