I should have known congress and the eco- fascists in this country had no intention of considering nuclear power as a clean alternative to fossil fuels.
We always hear that all sources of energy are to be considered to make us energy independent - congress lied to us, as they have always lied about everything that is of national security importance. Why is that? Remember immigration policy being made behind closed doors?
To cut the funding for this all important step in considering nuclear energy as one of the legs of our energy Independence, is a breach of national security. Energy Should be the single most important item for this country to focus on as it effects all other issues from immigration to health care. Without adequate supplies of energy, all other aspects of life in this country will suffer the consequences.
I have mentioned the need for a comprehensive energy policy that is not politically driven on many occasions, as have many others, that must be based on common sense needs of a growing economy.
The politics of 'man made' global warming is the driving force behind this insanity. It's a fraud, it has no basis in fact - all of the hard evidence from many repeatable organizations points to other factors causing a slight rise in temperature but that these factors are completely out of our control. Major among these factors is our sun.
This is not a matter of 'consensus' - it is a matter of hard scientific evidence. Why is this so hard to grasp as a concept? Global warming can not be proved just by people, some scientists, having an 'opinion' on the matter, i.e. a consensus. Are you ready to send tens of billions of tax dollars on a scam that is designed to bring a very small group of people to power - not to mentions thousands of new bureaucrats, that is New Socialist Progressives.
Get on the phone people or write your congress person and ask them what is going on here.
Sigh - Keep the faith, the battle is joined!
Yucca Layoffs Ballooning -
(from Wisconsin Energy Coop)
Layoff's on the Yucca Mountain project in response to congressional budget-cutting will apparently grow to nearly nine times the number previously thought and construction work at the planned nuclear waste site has reportedly ground to a halt.
In January, the projects chief contractor announced more that 60 layoffs, more than half of affected workers employed directly at the site. Since then, Ward Sproat, the Department of Energy's (DOE) director of civilian radioactive wasted management, has said he envisions at least 500 layoffs, some in the states other than Nevada where work connected with the project is being done.
The layoffs make it likely the DOE will fail to meet it's own June 2008 deadline to formally apply for a Nuclear Regulatory Commission license to complete the facility. The current target date for the Yucca Mountain to begin accepting high level waste from US power plants - 2017 - will also likely fall by the wayside.
