Does it seem strange that the Republicans are always involved in controversial operations and end up having to defend themselves before the world? Could it be that they are always on the move trying to solve problems and therefore on the cutting edge of world condemnation? I think it has been said that you can't get into trouble if you don't ever do anything that involves risk or critical thinking.
George Bush took the initiative after the attack on the World Trade Center. He said that the world would hear from us all and they have as Afghanistan and Iraq can attest. He is a man of his word. A rare thing in Washington and even rarer in a politician.
If the President hadn't been aggressive and ordered the NSA to intercept messages from terrorist living outside the United States to terrorist in side this country, he would have been condemned for failing to protect the country. That he did order the intercepts, and apparently successfully, as the Democrats are trying to stop them, he is now being condemned for spying on Americans citizens. The elite media and the liberal Democrats see this as just one more opportunity to help their middle east friends weaken our defenses.
An example of the two faced Democrats in the congress and media is when we discuss the Valerie Plame deflowering case and the just revealed NSA intercept conundrum.
The Democrats and the unbiased media see the Plame case as catastrophic in the total failure of the Bush administration ability to conduct itself in a lawful manner. Cheney and Libby and just about everyone else, supposedly took advantage of poor Joe Wilson by sending him on a fools mission to Niger, which of course wasn't true.
Then, just because when he comes back and lies to the press about what he did and didn't do on this mission to find WMD material, which was actually suggested and organized by his wife, Valerie, not Cheney, and when someone drops the word in the press that his wife is actually a covert agent of the CIA, which also wasn't true, the unbiased media and Democrats blame it all on Bush as a national security failure. An investigation soon followed. Two years and millions of dollars later, the special prosecutor found nothing of the sort.
Now the tune that the puppet masters are having the Democrats sing and dance to is that the leak of the NSA intercepts wasn't all that bad because it was for the good of the country. This individual or these individuals are concerned about our civil rights and their mission to expose the hypocrisy of this administration is justified. An investigation at this time, according to the democrats, is not the tone that we want to set for the world as it watches our justice system attacking 'patriots' being arrested for acting out of conscience. The Democrats see no national security problem here even though highly classified information that put our nation at risk was stolen from the government, released to a reporter that is sympathetic to the terrorist that attacked us on 9/11, and which is a federal crime.
The Democrats see no reason to move on the reporter from the New York Times that wrote the story on the NSA intercepts as it plays into their hands perfectly. The reporter had this story for over a year in his files, supposedly knowing that it was illegal to release, but when the opportunity arose to strike the Bush administration a crippling blow, and at the same time, alert our enemies to our methods of tracking them, was just too much of a temptation.
The fact that the intercepts are legal and have been used in past administrations has no bearing the situation today. The fact that these intercepts are vital to our national security and a great weapon in the war on terror means nothing. The Democrats are single minded. Their hate is all consuming. All media outlets are on a mission to do as much damage as they can to the administration and subsequently, the country.
So we have the Democrats saying that on the one hand the leaks are bad when they make Democrats look bad, but when they are hurt Bush and the country, they aren't as bad as you might think. And, of course, they really aren't leakers that steal classified documents, but highly motivated citizens working to protect us all from those that want to rob us of our civil liberties.
Putting this all into some perspective, we see that history repeats itself all the time. Remember Daniel Shore and the Pentagon Papers that he stole? Remember we were at war then to in Vietnam. The papers were classified documents. The media and the Democrats treated him like he was a hero!
Then as now, the Democrats were fully invested with the anti-war protesters. There really is no place for them to hide anymore. They are a martyrdom cult of defeat -
