Even if as this author states many among us have no idea what happened in the old Soviet Union as it totally collapsed in the late 20th century, Venezuela is here and now, the perfect poster child to explain the absolute failure of income redistribution, the very foundation and philosophy of socialism.

Winston Churchill said it best, ''Socialism a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance and the gospel of envy. It's inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery''.

Twenty-eight-year-old democratic socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez jumped into the national spotlight when she defeated longtime Congressman Joseph Crowley in the New York Democratic primary in June.

Many view her, along with socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., as carrying the mantle for a renewed socialist trend in the United States among millennials. Indeed, socialism enjoys stronger support among millennials than any other generation today.

What would socialist policies mean for our country’s future?

To me, it’s pretty astounding to realize that a whole generation has grown up for whom the Soviet Union is just a distant historical memory. They don’t have a personal memory of when the Soviet Union came crashing down in 1991—dramatic proof that its socialist system was a dismal failure. They can’t recall the feeling of national pride over the fact that, in contrast, the free economy of the United States had succeeded in producing the highest standard of living and greatest material wealth in world history.

So perhaps it is understandable that for a new generation, the old, empty promises of socialism seem to carry a new allure.

Socialism by definition is the political and economic theory of social organization whereby production, distribution, and exchange should be owned and regulated by the community as a whole. In other words, what is mine is yours and what’s yours is mine. It holds a strong appeal for many people because it addresses legitimate concerns over inequity and injustice.

The problem is that, for all its high-minded fairness, socialism doesn’t work. It’s not just a castle in the air—it’s the promise of a palace that is really built on quicksand.

You don’t even have to look back to the Soviet Union to see this. Venezuela is just the latest tragic example of socialism’s devastation.

At the beginning of the 21st century, Venezuela was one of the top 20 richest countries in the world. Today, its poverty rate is 87 percent and its inflation rate is predicted to be approaching 1,000,000 percent. Once, its capital was a tourist destination with thriving culture. Today, it is the crime capital of the world.

This crisis is the result of the redistributive policies and the systematic destruction of economic freedom by a current corrupt, elitist administration. As President Donald Trump said in his first speech to the United Nations General Assembly: “The problem in Venezuela is not that socialism has been poorly implemented, but that socialism has been faithfully implemented.”

It’s a sobering reminder that while socialism’s torch bearers may change, the havoc it wreaks with its hollow promises remains the same.

What we must remember is that America is not immune. As President Ronald Reagan famously said, “Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn’t pass it to our children in the bloodstream.” Socialism, faithfully implemented, could cripple our nation’s peace and prosperity over time just as it did in Venezuela.

We must continue to speak out boldly—not based on fear, but based on facts. We must continue to tell the truth, regardless of its popularity. We must continue to implement policies that unleash the power of our free economy and create more opportunities for all Americans—like the recently passed Tax Cuts and Jobs Act with its bipartisan opportunity zones.

It’s my firm belief that, in the marketplace of ideas, freedom will always win out over socialism on the basis of merit, evidence, and facts—but it cannot win if no one is making the case.

Let’s continue to stand up and speak out. Let’s make the case.

Jacksonville Shooter Mentally Ill : The Law Made The Victims Defenseless

The progressive socialist liberal are quick to defend the notion that self defense it's self is wrong ands some how evil. Not that the whole idea of trying to eliminate guns is some how a rational way to stop mental patients from raging in public with a gun is justified, but a national crisis to be dealt with immediately. 

Remember the democrats agenda item when they create chaos in our civil society, 'always take advantage of a chaos as we can accomplish things that we couldn't under normal conditions'. Barrrack's former chief of staff Rohm Emanuel, "Never let a serious crisis go to waste".

In the process of trying to solve complex problems, a mental patient with a gun, the socialist liberal democrats understands that if they can unarm the population, it will be the first step to gain absolute control. 

The citizen that can't defend themselves against an immediate evil will not be able to defend the Constitution against those that wish to destroy it.

This past weekend, a competitor at a video game competition in Jacksonville, Florida, allegedly opened fire on fellow gamers, killing two and wounding 10 before taking his own life.

It appears that, like so many mass public shooters before him, current gun laws should have been enough to prevent him from possessing firearms. And once again, the gun laws did little more than impose barriers for law-abiding citizens, who were then left defenseless.

It’s evident that the alleged shooter has many of the traits common among mass public shooters. He comes from an extremely dysfunctional family and has a history of mental health and behavioral problems. He was a relative social outcast who, while not quite paranoid, appeared to think he was oppressed by his family and society.

He was never convicted of a crime, but had numerous interactions with law enforcement because of a tendency toward outbursts that displayed oppositional or threatening behavior. He did poorly in school and eventually dropped out of college.

It’s becoming increasingly clear that this shooting did not owe to a failure of laws on the books, but a failure to enforce existing laws.

Court documents reveal that the suspected shooter was involuntarily committed to mental health facilities on six different occasions as a teenager, spent 97 days at a Utah facility for youth with behavioral health problems, and routinely had the police called on him by his mother. Under both Maryland and federal law, the involuntary commitments were enough to disqualify him from legally purchasing or possessing firearms unless he had his rights restored.

In Maryland, having firearm rights restored involves a fairly intensive process that includes providing sworn affidavits from non-relatives and a mental health professional attesting to the soundness of the individual’s mental state. It’s highly unlikely that the Jacksonville shooter had his rights restored under Maryland law, but we don’t know for sure at this time.

And yet, according to officials, the alleged shooter was able to successfully purchase two handguns from a federally licensed firearms dealer in Baltimore in the weeks prior to the shooting, meaning he passed, at the very least, a federally-mandated background check for disqualifying criminal and mental health histories, submitted his fingerprints, and passed a firearms safety training course.

It’s still unknown whether the suspected shooter’s mental health records weren’t reported to the proper database, whether they were sealed because he was a minor when the events occurred, or whether some other mishap prevented the store from discovering through mandatory background checks that the shooter was disqualified from purchasing a firearm.

Despite the fact that it doesn’t appear the alleged shooter had a valid concealed carry permit from any state, he carried two firearms with him into the tournament area.

But none of this has stopped gun control advocates from immediately calling for stricter gun laws to be imposed on law-abiding citizens. (Activists even got #GunControlNow to trend on social media.) Neither has it stopped certain gun control advocates from again accusing law-abiding gun owners who defend their Second Amendment rights of callously ignoring the victims.

As a legal policy analyst, the disregard of a constitutional right annoys me. As a person, the accusations of callousness sicken me.

You see, I’ve watched that gut-wrenching live stream video of the tournament, and I am overcome with emotion. I hear the panic and the fear and the disbelief. I hear the inhuman screams of the wounded and the groans of those slowly coming to terms with their injuries. I hear, I firmly believe, the unspoken prayers of the dying in their fading moments.

And my heart breaks for what I hear. It breaks for the senseless evil and the unspeakable pain of those left behind. But my heart breaks, too, for what I did not hear—the sounds of a capable defense.

For 16 long seconds, an unhinged individual stood completely unopposed by a roomful of unarmed victims. Those 16 seconds that could have been many more, as the gunman had two handguns and extra ammunition that he apparently did not use.

It takes me four seconds to draw my firearm from its holster, locate a threat, and eliminate it. But for 16 seconds, the people in that room had nothing they could do.

In those moments, pitted against the full weight of evil, they were left defenseless. We left them defenseless. They had no armed security, no protection, and no choice. Jacksonville made it impossible for them to defend themselves by declaring Jacksonville Landing a gun-free zone, and neglecting to provide any other protection.

It turns out that these state laws and tournament rules weren’t enough to stop a the alleged shooter, a 24-year-old with a long history of mental health problems and oppositional behavior from ignoring those rules and bringing two loaded handguns anyway.

The morning after the shooting, CNN published an opinion article titled “Don’t Try to Sugarcoat the Horror of Jacksonville.” Its author gets many things wrong. He puts Second Amendment “rights” in scare quotes, as though they’re something we made up rather than an inextricable part of whole framework that ensures the liberty of a free people.

He condescendingly suggests that Second Amendment advocates merely want to protect their guns—an absurd statement, as we actually want our guns in order to protect ourselves from precisely the type of evil displayed in Jacksonville.

In an op-ed devoid of substance and reliant on emotional appeals, he accuses us of lacking empathy and failing to engage in substantive analysis out of fear for where the answers might lead us. But in one sense, I completely agree with the author’s main point: The answer is not to sanitize suffering, but to embrace its existence.

Our reality is that evil exists. Human beings hurt each other. From the very beginning, when Cain smote Abel in a jealous rage, to last Sunday afternoon with a similar rage and a deadlier weapon, human beings hurt each other. Despite our laws, despite our precautions, despite our best intentions, evil exists, and human beings hurt each other.

We must embrace this reality—and then we must adequately account for it.

Roughly 100 million Americans have chosen to account for the existence of evil by arming ourselves against it, in accordance with a constitutional right that, in large part, exists in the first place as a check against evil.

This year, Americans will use their firearms for lawful defense of life and property between 500,000 and 3 million times. And while we hope the day never comes when evil rears its ugly head in our faces, we know that if it does, we might have a fighting chance.

McConnell's Judicial Confirmations Stalled : All Progressive democrats Blocking

democrats know, as a rule, Republicans would never this.

Senate Ramping Up Trump Judicial Confirmations This Week

Since March, Senate Democrats have forced 30 hours of debate on each of five of President Donald Trump’s federal district court judge nominees subsequently approved with at least 95 votes.

District court judges—the first jurists to rule on often contentious cases—have been stalled, but Senate Republicans plan this week to keep the Senate in session long enough to confirm a dozen of them before Labor Day.

Of the 179 current and known future federal court vacancies, 160 are on district and specialty courts, according to the Judicial Crisis Network, which monitors judicial appointments.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., announced the Senate will stay in session ahead of the holiday week to vote on 12 judicial nominees and on other appointees.

“Currently before us are nominees to be an assistant secretary at the Department of Health and Human Services, a vice chairman for the Federal Reserve, important posts at the departments of Justice and Treasury, and a slate of impressive nominees for the federal judiciary,” McConnell said on the Senate floor Tuesday.

The Senate on Tuesday confirmed Richard Clarida, of Connecticut, to be vice chairman of the Federal Reserve for a term of four years. The vote was 69-26.

“I hope we can continue to make progress,” McConnell said.

The slowdown is a result of Senate Democrats’ requiring 30 hours of debate for every nominee, even those who clear the Judiciary Committee unanimously or nearly unanimously. The tactic forcing a cloture vote to cut off debate is used because Democrats can no longer filibuster nominees.

McConnell noted in a tweet last week how many Trump nominees have been stalled, compared with past presidents. Trump has 80 pending district and specialty court nominees awaiting Senate Judiciary Committee hearings, and 26 more awaiting a Senate floor vote.

“There is a vacancy crisis at the district court level,” Thomas Jipping, deputy director of the Edwin Meese III Center for Legal and Judicial Studies at The Heritage Foundation, told The Daily Signal. “Historically, this tactic has only been used for the most controversial nominees. Now, it’s only being used to delay and gum up the works.”

It used to require 60 votes to stop a Senate filibuster and move to a floor vote on a judicial nominee. But in 2013, the then-Democratic majority in the Senate did away with the filibuster for district and appeals court judges and executive branch nominees.

During the 2017 confirmation process for Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch, the Republican majority also eliminated the filibuster for high court nominees. So, the cloture procedure has become the delaying tactic of choice.

Thus far, 110 Trump nominees have been stalled by the Democratic tactic. It would require votes on at least 10 judges per week for the rest of the year to confirm all of Trump’s nominees for the district and circuit courts, Jipping said. He said it’s possible the Senate would take action in a lame-duck session after the November midterm elections.

The Senate will be voting on the following judicial nominees this week, according to McConnell’s office:

R. Stan Baker, of Georgia, to be a U.S. district court judge for the Southern District of Georgia.
Charles Barnes Goodwin, of Oklahoma, to be a U.S. district court judge for the Western District of Oklahoma.
Barry W. Ashe, of Louisiana, to be a U.S. district court judge for the Eastern District of Louisiana.
James R. Sweeney II, of Indiana, to be a U.S. district court judge for the Southern District of Indiana.
Susan Paradise Baxter, of Pennsylvania, to be a U.S. district court judge for the Western District of Pennsylvania.
Marilyn Jean Horan, of Pennsylvania, to be a U.S. district court judge for the Western District of Pennsylvania.
William F. Jung, of Florida, to be a U.S. district court judge for the Middle District of Florida.
Dominic W. Lanza, of Arizona, to be a U.S. district court judge for the District of Arizona.
Charles J. Williams, of Iowa, to be a U.S. district court judge for the Northern District of Iowa.
Robert R. Summerhays, of Louisiana, to be a U.S. district court judge for the Western District of Louisiana.
Alan D. Albright, of Texas, to be a U.S. district court judge for the Western District of Texas.

Senate Republicans have prioritized confirming appeals court nominees, which are more likely to decide on constitutional issues. Still, the majority of legal cases are decided at the district court level, and most aren’t accepted on appeal.

Large vacancy rates have a big impact on the administration of justice, noted Curt Levey, president of the Committee for Justice, a conservative legal group. In the past year and a half, district judges also played a significant role in blocking much of the president’s policies on border enforcement, restricting travel into the United States from certain countries, and restricting funding for cities that don’t assist in federal immigration enforcement, he said.

“District judges can yield enormous power against everything President Trump does, and slow down his policies for a couple of years,” Levey told The Daily Signal. “More confirmations mean there is less chance of a ‘resistance’ judge.”

The Senate also will be voting on the following executive branch nominees, according to McConnell’s office:

Lynn A. Johnson, of Colorado, to be assistant secretary for family support, Department of Health and Human Services.
Joseph H. Hunt, of Maryland, to be an assistant attorney general.
Isabel Marie Keenan Patelunas, of Pennsylvania, to be assistant secretary for intelligence and analysis, Department of the Treasury.

Open Borders : An Unskilled, Ignorant and Diseased Rampage

What better way to bring chaos and conflict to a free market capitalistic system is to flood it with unproductive and needy people.

The financial and heath systems in the United States could not and will not survive the onslaught of millions of people that must be cared for. It's how our system is constructed not to allow people to suffer the consequences of their own failings.

And the progressive socialist knows this are taking advantage of our system hoping America's heritage of caring for others will in the end destroy itself. It is happening now.

A free and independent system that brought unapparelled success to 100's of millions of people for more the 200 years is under attack by forces that believe they must, no, they demand control of the system of production for their own personal purposes even if it means destruction of the system itself.

Uneducated, untrained, unskilled and perhaps diseased people that seek a better life for no other reason then they have been told they can come to the United States and not have to pay for anything, a free ride from responsibility.

This is real and consequential for our country if common sense cannot become a reality. America cannot support millions of people that have no other reason for being here other than to take advantage of America's big heart and open pocket book.

If you want to end the nightmare of ''open boarders and ending ICE enforcement of our immigration laws'' as the ''new wave socialist democrats'' are now demanding, never vote democrat ever again. They really mean to do catastrophic harm to our civil society based on the rule of law

This not just an idle assumption, they are on the move and mean every word they say. The televised speeches of those that advocate for open boarders is main stream. The America citizens be damned!

Defeat the progressive socialsit democrats in November. It is a matter of national security!!

Open Borders Bring a Higher Risk of Disease

The Immigration and Nationality Act mandates that all immigrants and refugees undergo a medical screening examination to determine whether they have an inadmissible health condition.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has technical instructions for medical examination of prospective immigrants in their home countries before they are permitted to enter the U.S. They are screened for communicable and infectious diseases such as tuberculosis, malaria, hepatitis, polio, measles, mumps, and HIV. They are also tested for syphilis, gonorrhea, and other sexually transmitted diseases.

The CDC also has medical screening guidelines for refugees. These screenings are usually performed 30 to 90 days after refugees arrive in the United States.

But what about people who enter our country illegally? The CDC specifically cites the possibility of the cross-border movement of HIV, measles, pertussis, rubella, rabies, hepatitis A, influenza, tuberculosis, shigellosis, and syphilis.

Chris Cabrera, a Border Patrol agent in South Texas, warned: “What’s coming over into the U.S. could harm everyone. We are starting to see scabies, chickenpox, methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus infections, and different viruses.”

Some of the youngsters illegally entering our country are known to be carrying lice and suffering from various illnesses. Because there have been no medical examinations of undocumented immigrants, we have no idea how many are carrying infectious diseases that might endanger American children when these immigrants enter schools across our nation.

According to the CDC, in most industrialized countries, the number of cases of tuberculosis and the number of deaths caused by TB steadily declined during the 100 years prior to the mid-1980s. Since the 80s, immigrants have reversed this downward trend in countries that have had substantial levels of immigration from areas where the disease is prevalent.

In 2002, the CDC said: “Today, the proportion of immigrants among persons reported as having TB exceeds 50 percent in several European countries, including Denmark, Israel, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, and Switzerland. A similar proportion has been predicted for the United States.”

The number of active TB cases among American-born citizens declined from an estimated 17,725 in 1986 to 3,201 in 2015. That was an 80 percent drop. Data reported to the National Tuberculosis Surveillance System show that the TB incidence among foreign-born people in the United States (15.1 cases per 100,000) is approximately 13 times the incidence among U.S.-born people (1.2 cases per 100,000).

Those statistics refer to immigrants who are legally in the U.S. There is no way for us to know the incidence of tuberculosis and other diseases carried by those who are in our country illegally and hence not subject to medical examination.

This public health issue is ignored by all those Americans championing sanctuary cities. The public health issue is also ignored by Americans clamoring for open borders, and that includes many of my libertarian friends.

By the way, in the late 19th century and early 20th century, when masses of European immigrants were trying to enter our country, those with dangerous diseases were turned back from Ellis Island. Americans hadn’t “progressed” to the point of thinking that anyone in the world has a legal right to live in America. Neither did they think that it was cruel or racist to take measures to prevent our fellow Americans from catching diseases from foreigners.

But aside from diseases, there is the greater threat of welcoming to our shores people who have utter contempt for Western values and want to import anti-Western values to our country, such as genital mutilation, honor killings, and the oppression of women.

Many libertarian types make the argument that we would benefit from open borders when it comes to both people and goods. That vision ignores the important fact that when we import, say, tomatoes from Mexico, as opposed to people, to the U.S., they are not going to demand that we supply them with welfare benefits.

The bottom line is that we Americans have a right to decide who enters our country and under what conditions. If we forgo that right, we cease to be a sovereign nation. But that may not be important to some Americans.

That is common from primary school to graduate level. We know that football coaches make more in salary than university presidents.

Graduation in Chicago (or maybe it was Detroit)...
Darqueeze played high school football in Chicago.  He was a great running back, but a really poor student.

At graduation, he didn't have enough credits. But he was a great football star and the students held a rally where they demanded the principal give him a diploma anyway.  They were so insistent that the principal agreed that if Darqueeze could answer one
question correctly he would give him a diploma.
The one question test was held in the auditorium and all the students packed the place.

It was standing room only. The principal was on the stage and told
him to come up.  Diploma in hand, the principal said:  "Darqueeze, if
you can answer this one question correctly, I'll give you your
diploma."

"Darqueeze, how much is 3 times 7?"  Darqueeze looked up at the ceiling and then down at his shoes while
pondering the question. The other students began chanting, "Graduate him anyway!  Graduate him anyway!"
Then Darqueeze held up his hand and the auditorium became silent.

He said, "I think I know the answer. 3 times 7 is 21!" A hush fell over the auditorium - then all the other students began to chant:
"Give him another chance!  Give him another chance!"

According go Rev. Wright, Barrrack's pastor for twenty years, said the American flawed values of racisms that have produced conflict and chaos in our society are indicative of ''The chickens have come home to roost.''

Back then it was Barrrack saying America needs ''transformation'', a religious jihad for change. And now another predominate progressive socialsit liberal is saying America is not worth spit. America was never any good.

How did Governor Cuomo become governor and rich? Maybe his is right. That same flawed society elected him to the highest office in that state is proof the society is stupid and worthless? Why do democrats hate everyone?

Who the hell are these people? Were they born here or are they from some other place that is so much better then where they live now? Are they angry about America not being as good as the place they left behind?

Andrew Cuomo’s Contempt for America Is Normal on the Left

The governor of New York, Andrew Cuomo, did Americans a favor last week. He provided that which is most indispensable to understanding anything: clarity.

“America … was never that great,” he announced.  In one sentence, the governor revealed the left’s true view of America. This is rare—because leftists are masters at hiding what they really believe.

For example, the left’s low regard for nonwhites is well-hidden under a mountain of “anti-racist” rhetoric. But people who consistently advocate lowering standards for blacks obviously do not think highly of blacks, and people who believe in separate black dorms and separate black graduation ceremonies obviously believe in a pillar of racism: racial segregation.

Another generally denied—if not hidden—left-wing belief is contempt for America. On a daily basis, the left describes America as xenophobic, misogynistic, imperialist, greedy, and homophobic. And that’s on a slow day at The New York Times, MSNBC, or your local university. Just last week, a New York Times column added “barbaric” to the left’s view of America.

But for some reason, the average American does not see all this as proof of the left’s contempt for America. So, we have to rely on the occasional unguarded and unambiguous statement to know what the left really thinks.

Michelle Obama provided such a statement when, as her husband began racking up victories in early-voting states in the 2008 primary season, she proclaimed, “For the first time in my adult life, I am really proud of my country.”

Hillary Clinton provided her example during the 2016 election when she described half of her fellow Americans as “deplorables.”

Then-President Barack Obama provided his example in 2015 when he spoke about racism being “part of our DNA.” Now, you might argue that he was merely stating a truth, not expressing contempt. But that argument fails for three reasons.

First, America has developed into the least racist multiracial, multiethnic country in history. Those who deny this have contempt for truth as well as for America. So much for DNA.

Second, can Barack Obama or anyone else on the left name a country or group in history that interacted with other races and was free of racism? Of course not. So, singling out America as having racist DNA is an expression of contempt for America specifically.

Third, how would Obama or anyone else on the left react to someone saying, “Islamic civilization has racism in its DNA”? They would not only emphatically deny it; they would charge whoever said it with being Islamophobic.

In other words, if one tells the truth about centuries of horrific treatment of blacks under Islamic rule, one is bigoted against Islam. But if one says America has racism in its very essence, racism that is still being passed unconsciously from one generation to the next, one is not an Ameriphobe?

And now, Cuomo tells an audience that “America … was never that great.”

Cuomo said publicly what virtually every leftist believes. No one—left, right, or center—thinks the comment was idiosyncratic. If Cuomo had said, “America was never a sports-loving nation,” everyone would have assumed this was just an odd comment representing no one but him. The reason this comment hit such a powerful chord in American life is that just about everyone suspects he was saying what all his fellow leftists believe.

After all, we all know what young people are taught from elementary school through graduate school by their left-wing teachers: America is a racist country founded by racists; Americans committed genocide against the American Indians; whites have unique privileges because of America’s “systemic” racism; in the words of Sen. Elizabeth Warren, “the hard truth about our criminal justice system: It’s racist … front to back”; police are racist—both white and black cops shoot blacks because of racism; and “American civilization” and “Western civilization” are no more than euphemisms for white supremacy.

Now, why would anyone think the left has contempt for America? Contempt for America is so central to leftism that there would be no leftism without it. Yet there remains an even more important question: Why?

Why does the left—not liberals, who traditionally revered America—have such disdain for America? I will address this question in a future installment of this series explaining the left. America and the West cannot be saved unless those who cherish them understand what motivates those who wish to see them end.
