This is an interesting conversation that I am having with a relative that lives in Canada but supposedly is still a citizen of the Untied States. She believes Donald Trump a ''pig'' and a disaster to the United States and the world.
Her contention is our great country is being destroyed as Donald Trump as is unraveling the policies of his predecessor that have driven our country into decline. I stated to her that Trump was elected to begin the recovery that was needed to 'make America great' again.
Her come back was ''what recovery. Excuse me!!!'' and my response was as follows :
''I guess it's a matter of one's personal definition of ''recovery''. A country over the last 8 years that was purposefully forced into decline financially, morally and spiritually needs a new rebirth to believe again that America is still that 'shining city on the hill' that 10's millions still flock to become residence. And more importantly, the voters saw and understood what was happening to our country in real time, and voted to start the healing and recovery.
It's the people, not the elite bureaucrats and political disciples of socialism, that saw the edge of the cliff and made the decision to turn away before it was too late. How beautiful is that!!''
I know that trying to have a rational debate with what I understand her to be is a progressive socialist, and I believe she has no idea that a socialist is. If she actually did understand she wouldn't so vehement in her ignorance of reality.
It is also true that one of more profound of definitions of liberalism is that it cannot be defended by rational debate, and to engaged a liberal in debated is foolhardy. Still being that she is a relative, I must take a stand and defend our country from her abysmal delusions of what is fact and what is fiction.''
