Civil War Photographs - Then and Now

If you are a civil war history buff, this is a must see, but even if you aren't, this is a great journey back in time on how the war looked then and how it looks today. The civil war was fought in America to make sure our nation remained united and for future generations to prosper from these huge sacrifices in treasure and lives.

As the saying goes, freedom is not free, someone always has to pay the bill.

Here are twelve phenomenal photographs from the Civil War era, superimposed with photographs of the same scenes as they appear today.  Photos #1 (Antietam); #3 (Slave Auction House); #6 (Devil’s Den); #7 (Evergreen Cemetery); #9 (US Capitol); and #10 (Ford’s Theater) are especially remarkable because you can clearly identify the original architecture.  History fans will especially enjoy these pictures.

You can switch between the then and now photos by dragging the white or yellow dot at right of each picture to the left or right...
