School Choice Bill in Senate Will be Vetoed : Mr Obama's Ideology

School choice was not high the priority list for the progressive socialist democrats in the last congress as it was dominated by democrats that are in bed with the teachers unions. Now, with the Republicans controlling both houses, Scott will have a better chance to get this bill through.

The problem now, of course, is Mr Obama, a progressive socialist democrat or worse, will veto anything that might hurt his agenda, socialist ideology and voter base.

Senator Tim Scott (R-SC) is reintroducing a bill that would expand education opportunities for students with disabilities, as well as children of military families and children of low-income families in Washington, D.C. The CHOICE Act (more formally, the Creating Hope and Opportunity for Individuals and Communities through Education Act) would:
  • Provide startup funding to states to establish school choice programs for disabled children.
  • Create a scholarship program on military bases that would provide up to $8,000 (for elementary students) and $12,000 (for high school students) for tuition.
  • Increase the scope of Washington, D.C.'s Opportunity Scholarship Program by requiring that excess funds be used for more scholarships and outreach efforts.
Schuyler Kropf, writing at the Post and Courier, says Scott had introduced the bill in the previous Congress but hopes to garner support with the new Republican majority in the Senate.
