Lying to cover one's failures is a well-used tactic to fool as many people as possible to get them to do what you want them to do even when it's harmful to them.
Again, history tells us that people statically short memories! Once fooled find it difficult to remember just what the good life was really like after so many days of suffering indignant failures over and over again.
Soon it becomes a way of life. Security is always voting for what you think you know is right for your ouwn personal life even though the pain never goes away!
It's like inflation. No one is talking about $7 eggs anymore, right? It's just the way it is!!
