It's much like why did so many people vote for their own destruction when they voted democraaat? Maybe it just more like Lemmings then chickens! Once a good citizen starts towards their ultimate end, they find it's just easier to continue along that path until they find they are screwed.
But a really bad consequence is many who are not part of the destruction become involved. It's called ''collateral damage!''
