Unbelievably, a student once complained to the Department chairwoman that my mention of God and a Creator was a violation of Separation of Church and State. Let me be as clear as I possibly
can : If any of you actually think that my decision to paraphrase the Declaration of Independence in the course syllabus is unconstitutional then you suffer from severe intellectual hernia.
Indeed, it takes hard work to
become stupid enough to think the Declaration of Independence is
unconstitutional. If you agree with the student who made that complaint then you
are probably just an anti-religious zealot. Therefore, I am going to ask you to
do exactly three things and do them in the exact order that I specify.
First, get out of my class.
You can fill out the drop slip over at James Hall. Just tell them you don't
believe in true diversity and you want to be surrounded by people who agree with
your twisted interpretation of the Constitution simply because they are the kind
of people who will protect you from having your beliefs challenged or your
feelings hurt.
Second, withdraw from the
university. If you find that you are actually relieved because you will no
longer be in a class where your beliefs might be challenged then you aren't
ready for college. Go get a job building houses so you can work with some
illegal aliens who will help you gain a better appreciation of what this country
has to offer.
Finally, if this doesn't work
then I would simply ask you to get the hell out of the country. The ever-growing
thinned-skinned minority you have joined is simply ruining life in this
once-great nation. Please move to some place like Cuba where you can enjoy the
company of communists and get excellent health care. Just hop on a leaky boat
and start paddling your way towards utopia. You will not be missed.

A new survey from the Friedman Foundation provides snapshots of how the Latino community describe their perceptions about the direction of American K-12 education and the federal government's performance in K-12 education. The survey also presents Latino's views on education spending; grades and preferences for different types of schools; and school choice topics, such as charter schools, vouchers, education savings accounts and tax-credit scholarships.
The results are compared to responses of two other subgroups, Caucasians and African Americans. The survey found: About 53% of Latinos believe education is going in the wrong direction versus 38% who think it's going in the right direction. However, low-income Latinos (47%) are relatively more positive than middle-income (32%) and high-income Latinos (26%). Around 73% of Latinos rate federal involvement in K-12 education as fair or poor while only 23% of respondents rated it good or excellent. Only 14% of Latino respondents were able to estimate the correct per-student spending range in public schools.
Latinos are more likely to give grades A or B to private schools in their communities, compared with their local public schools. About 62% of Latinos support charter schools, while only 26% oppose them. Approximately 71% favor school vouchers. Nearly 73% an education savings account program (ESA) and 76% said they support a tax-credit scholarship program. About 40% said the amount of time spent on standardized testing is about right, compared with 31% who said it's too high. 56% said they support the Common Core Standards compared with 35% who oppose that approach to developing and implementing academic standards.
Lastly, most Latino respondents stated that the best way the government can intervene in low performing schools is to supply vouchers or scholarships to affected families.

Worker Jobs Without College Dergees : Skills Needed, Not More Parchment
What is needed to day is not more eggheads from the universities and their worthless degrees and student debt, what is needed is the change the thinking to understand we need people with skills to make sure society continues to operate and expand. We need people that can build and repair all the infrastructure that supports the American economy. We need people that can work with their hands.
To rely on only the universities to supply the generations of workers and inventers needed to sustain our economy is to beg our own demise. But as anyone that is awake and understands our current situation knows our society is in decline and know the reasons for the decline.
Sadly, many among us are in denial.

In 2014, 27.4% of employment could be found in opportunity occupations using measures that reflect both the typical education needed to enter an occupation and the requisite education suggested by job-seekers and occupational experts. This estimate falls to 20.3% when job accessibility based on educational attainment requested by employers in online job ads is considered.
Reasons for this decline can be attributed to:
Technological change and the automation of routine tasks at the heart of these jobs.
The globalization of trade and the decline of unions and associated collective bargaining rights.
The impact of recessionary periods, including the Great Recession, might have accelerated the loss of middle-skill jobs.
The occupations where these workers are more likely to earn a decent wage are registered nurses; bookkeeping, accounting, and auditing clerks; and heavy and tractor-trailer truck drivers. The study revealed that access to jobs that provide good wages for those without a college degree varies significantly across America's metropolitan areas, thus, for these workers not all urban economies are equal.

Centralized Health Care : First Step to Single Payer?
The architects of the Affordable Care Act(ACA) really didn't have any idea of how to stem the cost of health care nor did they care to. Remember Gruber saying he had to lie to the general public, and even to the progressive socialist liberal democrats party (collective) to get it be accepted and passed into law?
Well, here we are heading down the slippery slope to 'single payer' health care. Chaos is the friend of the democrats. While the private healthcare industry of seeks to find ways to survive in a totally controlled landscape, and hospitals take the opportunity to solidify their new found strength of the last standing alternative to private enterprise, and insurance companies wholly in the mistaken idea they could join the feds to make a profit or just survive more regulations and fed overreach of their industry, all around us reigns confusion in heath care, and where there's confusing and chaos there is profit, especially for the progressives that want 'single payer health care'.
The ACA is designed to bring chaos and where there is chaos there is the opportunity for the progressive socialist ideology to make the necessary changes, as Mr Obama so proudly told his cheering audiences, to once and for all "fundamentally change" American society while the population, for the most part stands by allowing it to happen, mystified.

A historic level of mergers and acquisitions is reducing competition in local healthcare markets across the country. Following in the footsteps of previous market consolidation trends, hospitals are now rushing to buy physician practices. The centralization of health care services threatens consumers with reduced competition and higher prices. Physician services represent 20% of healthcare services rendered and nearly $515 billion dollars in spending in 2010 (3.6% of GDP).
The Affordable Care Act (ACA) is driving the acceleration towards centralized medicine delivered at a local hospital by physicians employed by the hospital. The consulting firm Booz & Co. predicts that 1,000 of the nation's roughly 5,000 hospitals could seek out mergers in the next five to seven years.
In the commercial market for private coverage, there's been a contraction in the number of carriers offering health plans, and policies make it difficult for new health plans to enter the market and replace those that are eliminated. Local hospital-owned physician organizations incurred expenditures per patient 10.3% higher than did physician-owned organizations.
The architects of Obamacare believed the best way to control costs was to force healthcare providers into restrictive networks centralized under a local hospital. Traditional ways for controlling costs -- such as redesigning benefit structures or implementing increased cost-sharing -- were prohibited by the new law. Additionally, the ACA skewed reimbursement payments to favor procedures offered at hospitals.
Faced with dwindling revenue and increased overhead, physician groups increasing find themselves with little choice but to be bought-out by a local hospital. Once independent doctors become the exception rather than the rule, the continued advance of the ACA's agenda will become inevitable.
Congress must pass new reform measures that allow doctors to create their own networks and to use innovation, technology, and good old-fashioned competition to keep healthcare costs down.

Today′s federal debt totals more than $13 trillion dollars. While some may argue that federal debt is not currently the most important issue, the U.S. would do well to return to the standard of Thomas Jefferson's fiscal prudence.
- Before the 1930s federal spending averaged only 2.7 percent of GDP.
- By the end of 2015, the federal debt will be equal to 74 percent of GDP.
- From 1791-1929 the U.S. government had a balanced budget for 68 percent of those years.
- From 1930-2015, the U.S. government had a balanced budget for 15 percent of those years.
- Spending distortions created by supporting subsidy and benefit programs which reduces overall output and incomes.
- Tax distortions caused by changes in lifestyles in response to higher taxes.
- Increased federal spending that removes incentives for government officials to be frugal and eliminate budget waste.
- Tax damages placed on future generations when payments on interest and principal will be due.
- Reduction in investment as businesses may be hesitant to invest for fear of tax increases in the near future.
- Borrowing from overseas requiring Americans to pay interest to foreign creditors.
- Macroeconomic instability since high government debt tend to lower growth and increase financial fragility.
